A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
Thank you for checking out my webpage. I have worked in the area of anxiety, OCD, and related disorders for more than 20 years and I love what I do. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health problem. Positively, anxiety is considered treatable and you are definitely not alone in your struggle with anxiety. However, finding a clinician with expertise and training in the area of anxiety and OCD can be difficult. I work with children (starting at age 7), adolescents and adults.
The type of therapy I practice is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT for short. It is a well-validated, research-based treatment for anxiety and its related conditions. It has a “here and now” focus. It typically involves more “teaching” than “treating”. I want you to become an expert in anxiety. The more you understand about anxiety, the more likely you will be able to overcome it. Treatment typically lasts between 6 to 12 sessions.
Some of the conditions I focus on are: Generalized Anxiety Disorder,
Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder (including Paruresis / Shy bladder syndrome and Selective Mutism), PTSD, OCD, Separation Anxiety Disorder, and Hoarding, In addition, I work with Depression, ADHD, Trichotillomania , Excoriation Disorder (Compulsive Skin Picking).
